Just a lil blog

Ive decided I need to get back on my blogging. I want get more serious with it.
Right now I am sitting in the dark in a dorm room.  Yep 51 years old and sleeping (well blogging on my phone) in a college dorm room for the first time ever. My husband (Kevin) is riding his bike ine the R.A.I.N. ride.  I belive the ride which starts at 7 am in is 162 miles across Indiana. I will be taking photos and meeting up with Kevin at different check points along the way.  Im very excited for Kevin and proud of him.  I would love to be riding but not up for that right now.  I will be watching out for my sweety though.  Maybe next year.  I plan on doing some hand sewing along the way and sitting back with my feet up resting at each check point.  Lol who knows I may sneak in a starbucks and a nap in between here and there.  My sis is planning on meeting up with me so that will help a lot

Here is one of the blocks that is finished already.  Ive had some extra time lately to learn how to do some needle turn hand applique and im hooked.  Its a great way of relaxing and getting my mind off things

yesterday

I was off work yesterday.  It was quilt club day so I headed to my friend and quilt mentor, Linda's house who is a wonderful lady, new friend, and a great guilty mentor.  I am on a commitee with her and a few other lady's to create award (guilty) ribbons for our quilt show coming up in the fall.  My first time ever being involved in anything like this and I loved it.  We talked and had lunch and then got busy.  Linda taught me how to make the Dresden pattern.  I was bad and didn't think to take pictures yesterday but here is a sample of what I did, its not exactly but you get the idea.

To which Linda taught me not only a great way to put this pattern together but how to press and make it look nice.   OH and how to do rip the thing apart and do it over till I got it right   LOL!!!  I think it was something like 20 or maybe it was 30!!!  But in the end I got it right!!!  Or else she took pity on it and redid the whole thing after I left.  I had a quick lil dinner with her and then we headed to quilt club.

At club I shared my border quilt of the cats it turned out nice after I fixed the corner.  I shared a photo of it a few posts ago.  I also shared my star blocks that are for the Christmas Mystery quilt we are doing.

this is a pinned together block of what will be going around the border quilt next.  Not in these colors this is just a sample of it!

Lucy wanted to go to quilt club too!

Time to get ready for work so will post more about what I've gotten done in past couple days later.

ta ta for now!!

Weekend with Lexy = the bla's go aways

If you know me you know I've had a ruff winter emotionally.  Every year winter seems to suck so much life out of me.  I hate it.......... hate that feeling that I just don't want to go any where be any where and that feeling that I'm just not me.  This year it was even harder to try and mask it and that is what I hate most of all.  What is a good fix for it?  Well a weekend with my princess, Alexandria and time out side in the sun.... just what the doctor ordered.  We rode our bikes yesterday and being out there with her singing as we rode was the most alive I've felt in months.  I keep saying ok I got this but after this weekend I felt OK I REALLY DO GOT THIS!!

Lexy and I went shopping to start out with getting grocery's and I got her a few new outfits.  One of which I didn't think I was going to ever get her out of again.  A pink dress.  She loved it.  We also picked out a lil outfit for Cupcake.

Of course we had to do a lil sewing.  We made Aunt Teresa (my sissy) a bunny with snoopy on it.

We also made a lil' marshmallow bunny these are so super sweet and adorable.  I bought the design last year but never got around to making them and I'm sorry but I can't remember where I bought it at.

All tuckered out.  LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!

and how am i spending today!!!  Well in my studio finishing up projects for the next quilt group meeting.

Yikes how did i let that happen?

Almost a month since my last post.  But its still been a very busy time in my life.  But I do try to sneak in time to get crafty here and there.  Yesterday was no exception, it was my first day off in 8 days and I spent the majority of it in my studio.   What was I working on?   Well I embroidered a towel for a co worker who is into cos play and needed this for a costume she was making.  Here is a picture of it.  I want to thank a face book friend who helped me out by digitizing the symbol for me.... YOU ROCK!

We've not soaked out the stabilizer yet so that is the white stuff you see around the edges.

It turned out really nice, I'm not a very experienced yet using the embroidery machine.  But it also got me a lil more comfortable in using it and I learned a lot doing this project.  It got me in the mood to try a in the hoop project I noticed everyone on a f.b. group I joined was making.  So I found out where to buy the design from and got with it.  Here is the design I wanted to try....

I bought the design from here.... Dolls and DayDreams.  They have some super cute designs and I loved how they gave you step by step directions making it super easy to make.

Here is my first one I made yesterday and I have another one in the hoop now for my grandbaby.  I plan on making a few for display in my house for Easter.

This one is for my granddaughter Alexandria...

Don't ya think it is adorable?

What else have I been working on?  Well I you know me I always have more then one or two projects going on at once.  I've been working on my Merry Go Round challenge for my quilt group.  Here is mine and yes I need to do some un-sewing and resewing can u see my goof?

I've also been working on our round robin challenge for quilt group but I'm can't post that just in case she is lurking out there.  LOL!!!

So I have just a few hours left till I go to work and I hope to get another bunny done so I need to close out this post now.  Sorry I was so long I am going to try and make it my goal to post once a week at the least.

One more photo before I go.  Here are my studio helpers.  Lucy and Ethel!

Happy Crafting!!!!

A Quilty Day off

Today was my day off and I was determined to spend it just as I wanted since my next day off won't be for 8 days.  I spent the day in my craft room working on quilts.  One of which is a Christmas mystery b.o.m for one of the quilt groups I belong to.  This is the first block for this one.  It was pretty detailed for me but I had a lot of fun with it.  I am still learning to press and match up my seams and points.

Now for a Celtic update

I've got a few more blocks put together today, I now have a total of 9 blocks.

Next up was my "Round Robin" quilt.  This is the block I recieved from the quilt group to put a border on.  I have a idea what I want to do now to just make it happen.  I didn't like the first round so now I've started round two of it.

I can't show you yet the border I put on it till the person who owns it gets it back don't want her getting snoopy and finding out what I did.  LOL  I loved the store she wrote that goes along with this.

Well that's it for tonight I need to head to bed.
